Imn this chapter Hazel is excited to go and meet the author of AIA with Agustus. She asked her mom and her mom is going with her. Her mother does not seem too happy about going. Hazel also feels sick. I hope she feels better. I predict her feeling sick will prevent her from going with Agustus and her mother to meet the author of AIA. She also is worried about being in a relationship with Agustus because shes afraid she will get sick and die and leave him sad like his girlfriend Caroline did. It seems like Agustus is dating Hazel to make up for huis girlfriends lost. She is acting very cranky and seems like shes going through a bad phase.I wonder is Agustus wants a relationship. I also wonder if he only used his wish on that to please hazel grace or did he want to really go to.

In chapter six of TFIOS the author states "Im like a grenade and at the same point im going to blow up and i would like to minimize the casualties. Hazel says this because she feels like her life has no meaning because she is not a regular teenager. She is depressed and she doesnt want the pain to continue of willing to blow up inside. You can compare this to Caroline and that she had been a bomb and when she blew up everybody around her was left with embedded shrapnel. this means that the people around her feels what she went through and that they share the same pain

  2. “To be with him was to hurt him- inevitably. And that’s what I’d felt as he reached for me: I’d felt as though I were committing an act of violence against him, because I was.” This quote really shows the internal conflict Hazel has with herself. She doesn’t want to get to close to him but at the same time she can’t really help it because she really likes him. I think that she should stop to because I wouldn’t want to put anyone through that type of pain either. At the same time if he says he can handle it then I would probably allow myself to get closer to him. It must be really hard to keep up a guard with someone you have so many feelings for. No matter what Hazel does she is bound to hurt somebody so what does she do – does she cut everyone off( isolation) or does she try to live with friends(friendship)? I think she should spend her last days happy with people who really care about her. I know she feels like she is hurting everybody but eventually they will get over it and cherish the good memories they have of her. Besides I have really come to like her and Augustus’s relationship. He makes her so happy and she makes him even happier. If I was her mother I would encourage her to make friends too just so that she could leave behind good memories. I hope that she makes the right decision.

" To be with him is to hurt him- inevitably. And that's what I'd felt as he reached for me: I'd felt as though I were committing an act of violence against him, because I was. I don't think that Hazel is the only one having this problem. A lot of teenagers go through the internal conflict of feeling they can hurt a relationship. This quote shows Hazel's internal conflict with herself. I have felt like Hazel before. I felt like I couldn't get close to someone anymore because I was going to hurt them. Hazel doesn't want to get close to Augustus, because she knows she is dying. She knows that if she dies that it would be a repeat of when his ex died. I think that it is generous for Hazel to not want to hurt Augustus. I believe that Augustus doesn't mind if Hazel is dying, because like Isacc said before everyone deserves true love. I don't honestly think Hazel should isolate herself from everyone else because during this hard time she needs to be shown love. Hazel should spend her last days with her friends and family. It doesn't matter if she is dying or not no one should ever feel like they are hurting some one. Besides if she leave him now how will the rest of the story be?

  4. To be with him is to hurt him”
I think Hazel mentioned this quote in The Fault in our stars because she knows she is going to die soon but she doesn’t want to hurt Augustus. Hazel knows that Augustus previous girlfriend died and it hurt him a lot she doesn’t want to hurt him. If they get to close Hazel might be scared to get even closer. I think Augustus knows that she’s dyeing but doesn’t care because if you love someone then love triumphs everything. Hazel should just leave Augustus alone and tell him why, and see what he says back. Augustus and Hazel have a special bond even though they have not known each other that long. I can relate to Hazel because I knew if I got to close to someone I might hurt them and their feelings, so it wouldn’t matter if you loved them as much as you said you really did. Hazel has to deal with this one her own, she didn‘t give her self-cancer to die, and neither did Augustus, but that is Man vs. nature.

  5. “You are not a grenade”
Hazel has cancer she thinks her parents have been wasting theier whole life taking care of her. It’s true. She believes that if she dies her mom and dad can have sometime to themselves. Hazel wants to be a regular girl, child she wants to experience the things other children or teenagers experience. I think Hazel’s parents should let Hazel go on her own, get her own place, care for herself. She does not need her parents to tell her when to come in the house, just because she has a oxygen tank doesn’t mean she can’t do regular stuff. If I was Hazel I would feel closed in, I would feel closed in, I would ask for my own space away from my parents. Hazel needs better friends then Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is all about herself, and she is so snobby.
“I wouldn’t bullshit you about this. If you were more trouble than you’re worth, we’d just toss you out on the streets.
Hazel’s mom and dad love her a lot they love her to the point where Hazel’s mom and dad quit their job to take care of her. Hazel feels like her

  6. Chapter six of The Fault in Our Stars had some major points of realization and other things. One of the things that was important was how Hazel noticed how a lot of people remembered Caroline Mathers even none months after her death which is something Hazel wants to happen to her. What Hazel fail to realize is that you don't have to remembered but as long as you know who you truly was it should not matter if anyone else does because you know what you fought your battle. So your significance should matter most to yourself rather than other people although it would not be a bad thing if other people did find significance. Another moment was when she said, " I’m a grenade". I think she says this because she knows she going to bite it from cancer one day which means that her time is running out quickly like a grenades time would if you pull the pin on it. I also thinks she says this because she know when she do bites it she know her parents will be affected gravely with her death so they would be the ones would be affected by the blast radius of her death like a grenade would affect the things in the area that it exploded in. So calling herself a grenade would be an intelligent metaphor) that is if I’m correct on calling it a metaphor) that really show how she view herself.

  7. Journal #6

Quote:" I realized while listening to Katelyn that I didn’t have a premonition of hurting him."
The reason why I chose this quote because you have a vision of hurting someone but you really don’t want to do it and you are just making a show for your friends that’s telling me this information. I can remember that some people say that they are going to do this and that but they don’t do it. And I think this quote is based upon that because while she is listening she doesn’t have a picture of hurting that person. While Katelyn is feeding her the information she probably saying oh yea he done this and that but she doesn’t have the vision of hurting him she was making a show for her friend Katelyn. I think this quote is serious to kids at young age because why would you cause trouble and you got the other person that you want to fight and she/he brings their family up there to defend he/she. And now you started some trouble that you can’t get out of and now you gone home and you got the people waiting for you at the location to approach you so that’s why you should not start trouble that you can’t finish also don’t show an act for your because you think you are tough.

  8. Difference can separate you from other peoples. An example is language. A quote I like is " I am a gernade, I am like a grenade". I like how Hazel compared herself to a gernade. Hazel feel she can fie any moment or time. She also feel she won't be missed, by many people. Hazel don't want to hurt people, by her death. Another quote I like is " you don't think dad will enjoy a few days of watching TV that are not about asprind models and ordering pizza every night". I like this quote, because Hazel is trying to convience her mother to go to Amsterdam. I would say something like that to try and get my way.

  9. My favorite quote from chapter 6 is "When I try to look at you like that, all is see is what I am going to put you through." This is my favorite quote because it is telling how she is trying to end the relationship before she hurts him. because she knows that her life is slowly coming to an end. This quote relates to my life because I had an personal experience just like Hazel is having. When my Aunt was first diagnosed with cancer I wanted to live with her but she was very weak and I didn't want to put her through a lot because she was already fighting with cancer. I Know how Hazel feels when she says this because its like if we stay in this persons life we will cause more pain to them. Even though sometimes you staying in their life can be a good benefit you don't want to risk it. In this movie I saw, this lady just got out of a relationship with this boy that she really loved and when her and him broke up this other man was trying to come into her life. She was still in love with her EX when he was trying to talk to her so she just stopped talking to him because she didn't want to break his heart. This relates to Hazel because they don't want to break the boys heart because they know in the end, someone will be hurt.

  10. DIFFERENCES
Differences separate me from people because one people these days are biased and judgmental based on looks and a first glance. I can say that I myself also judge people (as well as books) based on their look and their title. I do believe that people have titles. Some people’s titles are their name simply. If someone were to hear about a girl named La’ShayMeQuan Johnson or Playstationiqua that person wouldn’t think that they were the most respected person in the world. I admit I would be biased at times but I know when biased can turn into being rude based on (blank). Putting people into groups is not the way of life. If the world was organized in a way that only the 5 year olds stayed together and the 6 year olds stayed together (kind of like in The Giver) then the world would be bland just like in The Giver. If that is not how people would want the world then they should stop being biased. There are some biased things that are good. If singers hung out with other singers then maybe that is okay, nut singers only hanging with other singers is a little creepy I guess. Another good separation example is bombs and explosive activators. You wouldn’t want a bomb and match factor would you. That is why people can’t smoke around gas stations. Gas is a highly flammable liquid. Is gasoline a liquid? Its called gas as if it is a evaporated liquid. I don’t know maybe I’ll look into that and tell you in my next entry or maybe I’ll ask you in class soon.

  11. "I'm a grenade and at some point I'm going to explode." I like this quote because I feel that this quote can relate to a lot of people in the world. To me I feel that this quote means that life is really short and everybody should respect the life that they have because someday that life is going to end. I can relate this quote to the story because all Hazel is saying is that because she have cancer her life is like an grenade and someday it's going to explode and when it does explode that's when her life is going to end.

  12. The quote I chose was "Pretty exciting that you might go to Amsterdam." I chose this quote because Hazel wants to go to Amsterdam to visit her favorite book author to get some answers on the ending of the book. She can not go ecause her parents can't afford this trip and if she go that would be high risks for her life. So, she thinks about using her wish but she can not use that bacause she had allready used that when she was 13 years old to go to Disney land with her family. Augutus comes over to take Hazel on a picnic and to tell her some good news. The good news was that he was giving her his wish so they both can go to Amsterdam. Hazel was so excited to go but she couldn't ecause she had just got back from the hospital from having a lack of oxygen. Her doctors told her that she would be at high risk of her life if she does go on this trip. So, now hazel has to decide on saving her life or risking her life to go visit her favorite book author Peter Van Houton.

  13. The quote I choose from chapter six was "I'm a grenade and at some point i'm going to blow up and I would like to minimize the casualties, okay". I choose this quote from chapter six because it caught me off guard and was a very unique quote from the text. It also caught me off guard and made me think to why she would say this, but then it hit me, if she did die she didn't want anybody to get upset or hurt people when she was gone. I think at this point she was just giving up, it seemed that way from my point of view. I also had chosen this quote because it's a symbol of death, like her cancer. This relates to my life in a way but not in hazels way, even though hazel struggles she gets back up just like us every day we deal with struggles everyday but get through them when we wake up the next morning. Also I can relate to this because hazel has to carry around that big oxygen tank and she cant do a lot either, so in my case I had broken my hand and my fingers, imagine feeling handy cape a little its not fun and in fact its sort of sad not being able to do certain things, or hanging out doing sport activities with your peers. Just like in hazels case she cant hang out with her peers from school or anything because her cancer doesn't allow her to be active or do certain things.

  14. "The joy you bring us is so much greater than the sadness we feel about your illness.........you're worth more than your trouble."
This quote is to explain to Hazel that the happiness her presence and life brings is far more important than the suffering and depression her illness draws upon the family. Being as though that she's a cancer patient and has been for ample years now, it's a true blessing just to wake up and know that their babygirl is alive. Being able to live and experience the ups and downs of life is more pivotal and valuable than stressing over financial plummets, depression, evergoing worry and concern, etc. She is worth the fight and trouble she unintentionally causes. Her physical and emotional pain is probably just as excruciating as her parents knowing that she can never be normal or live a normal life. She can't be extricated from her antagonizing predicaments. Admissions and discharges of the hospital will always be a part of her life, but that doesnt overpower the experiences between those dates. Her childhood has been taken away from her unwillingly and uncontrollably, but every breath she takes is appreciated and worth the war.

  15. Chapter 6:
A line I liked in chapter six was" To be with was to hurt him." I liked this libe because its kind of sad. I say that because Hazel knows she's going to die and she doesn't want the relationship between her and Augustus to get very serious. She v doesn't want him to go through what he did with Caroline mathers. If I was in Hazels place I wouldn't want Augustus to be hurt or in that positio again. I still would want to be loved , so I wouldn't push him away. It makes no sense for her to do that because that's going to make him like her more I hope things just go right with them.
Another line in chapter six that I liked is " thinking about you dying makes us sad." This line is sad because nobody wants to think about their lives ones dying. I remember when My grandmother was dying. I didn't want to believe it , so I kept saying she was going to get better but she ended up dying. Just thinking about her dying just makes be upset. You try your hardest to cope with it and not believe its not happening but you hover no choice.
I can really relate to these lines with no problem. I think other people can to. I wonder why Hazel just won't live out her life. I know that she didn't want to hurt Augustus but she should be able to get the chance to love somebody. I would want to and if she pushes him away he's only going to try harder.
