  2. A quote that i can relate to from chapter 7 is " i missed you too. I just didnt want you to see.... all this." This quote is saying that she missed Augustus and wanted to talk to him but she didnt want him to see her slowly dieing because then he would begin to worry about her alot. This quote relates to my life because when my cousin was getting surgery done and i wanted to go see her, she didnt want me to come because she knew io would cry and focus on her more than my own life. When Hazel says she didnt want Augustus to see her, she meant she didnt want him to see her suffering, her dieing. I think that since Augustus's EX died from cancer and he saw her suffering and dieing, Hazel dosent want to take Augustus through that again. Another real life experience i had like this was when my grandfather got sick and he didnt want me to see him hurting and dyeing. This connects to Hazels life because they don't want people that they love to see them dyeing.

  3. A quote that I chose for my chapter 7 journal was "It doesn't matter. You don't always get what you want." I chose this quote because I strongly agree with it. I have had a dozen personal experiences that can relate to this quote, with friends and family. The reason I chose this quote is because I have had and I know what it feels like to not "have your way". Based on the book, Hazel wanted something, but she realized she couldn't have it, weather it was because she had cancer or something else. I think this quote is very opinion able because I think people can look at it in different ways and I also think EVERYONE has had their own personal experience that can be based off of this quote. I also chose the quote that says "What a slut time is. She screws everybody". I chose this quote because I agree. Time waits for no one, although it can be a good thing because things can heal in a period of time. People can also look at this quote in different ways because if I was Hazel, I would think of this quote in a negative way. When I read this quote, I would have started to think about how much time I have left to live, especially if I just came out of the hospital. I can relate to this quote because things have passed me by plenty of times and I could do nothing about it.

  4. A qoute I like is " you shall shine more bright in these contents". I like this qoutes, because its an inspiration, when you feel down. The qoute means to me, that you ate bright, even if you do not know it. Another quote I like is " the dead of visible only on the terrible lidless eye of memory". The qoute is only visible by rememberance. The dead is not alive, of their for peolpe memory and thought of them. This the way Hazel feel. Hazel is afraid of death. She do not want to be remeembered, because she know it will only hurt the people she love. Hazel sick, but she want to feel like she is nomal, but she is not

  5. Your differences separate you from other people because nine times out of ten that they don't understand that one individual. Whenever someone is different from what you consider normal you might think that that certain individual is weird. This works both ways because while you may think that person is weird because he/she is not acting a way you are use to seeing people act but from the other perspective the other individual may think your weird because you aren't acting like they normally would. So your differences do separate people because you may think different of the person. A prime example of this would be Hazel in " The Fault of our Stars". Hazel see herself being different from one of the normal girls because of how she have cancer and she cant really rely on her lungs to breathe like most people. Since she have to carry around an oxygen tank people may think differently of Hazel because unlike most people she can't breathe on her own. Even the smallest difference in a person can cause a person to think that the person is weird or as we know " Different". This is why differences separate people. You can learn a lot by viewing the book and paying attention to life about this. When you understand things like differences you can understand the world a lot better because you will be able to understand how most people are and what to properly consider them. Besides that the book itself is like a teacher because you are learning important points from it.

In this chapter my favorite part was when hazel grace found out that agustus was in the waiting room waiting to see he. Its cute how shes sick and he wants to be there to support. he dealed with a sick girlfriend before and i predict hes used to it. I feel like agustus is kind of going seeing hazel to make up for the death of his deceased girlfriend. My least favorite part is how hazel screamed for help and had to go to the hospital. I feel bad for her and her parents. I feel bad she had to hear her own mother say she may not be a mom again , because hazel may die. that is depressing. This was my least favorite chapter and it made me appreciate my life more. I predict that hazel may not be able to go to amsterdan because she is sick and not feeling well. I think the BiPAP is a big symbol in this chapter. I saves her life alot. It also is the theme coping witl life and death. Shes facing teenager boy problem,s along with cancer. this is alot to take on. I think as long as her and agustus stick together they can get past it.

  7. “(Off topic, but: What a slut time is. She screws everybody.).” This statement is so true. Time goes around and she picks with everybody. She goes from one person to another. You never know when your time is up too. It flies past so quickly. I can relate to this quote because I’ve been in so many situations when time runs up and there is nothing you can do about it. I was just wishing that I could have a few more moments but I couldn’t. I am talking about the time when I was taking the SAT and they only gave us a certain amount of time to complete the section of the test. I tried so hard to complete all the work but I couldn’t and those test scores will follow me forever. If I were in Hazel’s shoes I would be as happy as I could with Augustus. It’s only a few times in your life that you find someone that is exactly made for you. If only time couldn’t screw everybody. The world would actually be a better place. Sometimes I wish that time wouldn’t exist so that we can do whatever we want without being rushed. If that could happen there would be a lot less problems and mistakes in the world. Like for instance if the doctors could take their time and save people’s lives without the sickness being timed then a lot more people would be able to live. I hope that Hazel can just let go with Augustus.

  8. Grief
People deal with grief in many different ways. But more importantly, people in general deal with it. They deal with it by crying, being in denial, being mad, being silent. Most people grieve the same but not always. That is okay because we are all different and we react differently too. Our reactions and our feelings are different. Getting an 'A' in math might not feel the same for a straight 'A' student compared to a student that is failing all of their classes. The failing student might appreciate the 'A' more than the A student because of their previous grade history. If a man were to die his wife and best friend will both grieve but they will not grieve the same. The best friend might grieve more because they (the man and him/her) have been through a lot and they have more memories. The man's wife might grieve more because they have a family and they have a relationship that cant be replaced. Even if she were to remarry she would still have love and grief for her husband. Grieving less or not grieving at all isn't wrong. It just mean that, like all people in the world, you are different that is okay. nothing is wrong with you. Just on Saturday the 14th I was at a funeral for a family member and I don't know him. I was a little upset because I wasn't crying like everybody else. I made myself think of my dad (who is deceased) in order to cry and thinking now that was rude to my father, my newly buried cousin and to the people around me at the time.

  9. One of my favorite lines in Ch. 7 is " I'd always thought the world was a wish-granting factory". This is one of my favorite lines because I always thought the same thing. Every wish I made I always thought it would come true, but I start to notice that the smallest wish would come true, not the big ones. I can relate to this because it's a lot of kids that would think this is true because they young, but when they get older they would start to notice what I notice when I got older. Everybody in the world want their wishes and they know every wish is not always going to come true. I would tell my nephew that his wish is too crazy to come true and I would keep telling him that over and over again, not knowing what I was during. I was hurting his spirit to fight for this wish. I learned from him that wishes give you something to go for or fight for. It give gives you confidence to try and do this wish you want to be granted.

  10. "I shall say you will die and none will remember you." I picked this quote because I really disagree with this quote because I feel like even if you die somebody is always going to remember you even if you do something good or bad somebody is always going to remember you. Also I think even the most bad person can be remember when he die because there is always someone, something, or a group of people that is going to remember you when you die if your are a good or bad person.

  11. Chapter 7
Quote: “To be fair, you still look pretty bad”
I would say this harsh quote because you are letting someone hopes down because they look bad. People can look bad they feel good in the inside and I think that people hate on a person they really do look better than they do but they cannot face the fact that the person looks better than them. I think that people are jealous of people have and what they got. The reason I say that some girls are jealous because they got the boy that you wanted and that start to bully and do crush things to that person. Therefore, that is why it is good to express your feelings in nice and meaningful way.

  13. ( Off topic, but: what a slut time is. She screws everybody.) I chose this quote because it expllains alot about time. How time waits for no one. This explains that Hazel's time is running out because time waits for no one. When the quote states that she screws everybody I think that means that she messes up everbody life at one point of the time. Inthis time period Hazel's got alot on her shoulders right now. She has to decide if she wants to go to Amsterdam or to stay home and not risk her life. So, she shoudn't waste her time she should live like everday is her last. Soon or later Hazel's time will be gone and she will never get that time back and she can't do anything about it.

  14. "The dead are visible only in the terrible lidless eyes of memory." This quote simply means that the dead are only visible in your mind. Because the mind allows you to visualize things, it is considered an eye. The mind is always opened therefore it is lidless. I chose this quote becaue it really stood out to me. I believe it influences Hazel that she should not worry about how she would impact her friends and family when she dies because she will still exist in all of their thoughts. Another quote that really stood out to me was from Peter Van Houten's letter as the first quote was. He said "Off topic, but what a slut time is. She screws everybody." I agree with this quote and disagree. There are sometimes when I am doing something I really like to do but it gets cut short and there are times when I am doing or enduring something boring and want it to end, and time flies very fast.

  15. A quote that stuck out to me in chapter 7 is "The dead are visible only in the terrible lidless eyes of memory. I picked this quote because it made me think and realize that those that are dead can only be remembered. I know a lot of dead people and my brother happens to be one of them. I will never see him anymore but I do have memories. People fail to realize that death isn't a punishment, but rather a simple part of living. The way you appreciate someone when their living is ultimately the way you will mourn them when they're gone. My little brother was 4 years old. He had his whole life ahead of him,but those glorious memories are what keeps him here. Some may say that the dead lives forever while others disagree. Personally, I don't believe that making Facebook statuses and upload pictures to Instagram makes a person lives forever. My life motto is you never know what you have until its gone. This means that going through life care-free and inconsiderate will dramatically effect that life that you didn't want to share. The memories in life have their own story or some say meaning. Peoplebelieve that being able to have all the luxuries in life I a memory. I don't live that way. I live for today, because death is my worst nightmare. Once your gone you don't know the way your remembered. Live and love your life like its the only memory left of you.

  16. "People talk about the courage of cancer patients, and i do not deny that courage. I had been poked and stabbed and poisoned for years, and still trod on. But make no mistake: In that moment, I would have been very, very happy to die." This means that it is very hard to live for her and it takes courage to survive. In the moment with keep having to get needles, shots and medication instead of suffering and she says that being died would be a better choice becasue pain hurts. Pain hurts because of all the hurt and suffering you go through. To fight through all the pain takes a lot of courage and a lot of energy becasue after a while you get tired of trying and trying. I had an experience like this my mom went through the pain on her back at work and it gave up on her so she switched jobs but still with the same company. I had an exprience myself my knee gave out on my while i was doing a performance and i messed up and had to wear a knee brace. The moral of this quote is to never give up no matter what you go through because you may not know what the outcome is. The outcome may be good or bad ,but you wil never know because you gave up too fast.

  17. In chapter seven one quote that I had chosen was when hazel stated "I'd always thought the world was a wish granting factory". The reason I had chosen this quote was because it shows something very important about hazel and her thoughts. It shows that hazel would and or used to wish fro a lot of things but they never maybe ever came true and sort of realized that the world isn't a wish granting factory. Another reason I had chosen this quote was because it seemed to stick out towards me and seemed liked it symbolized something in the story. I can relate to this because everybody in there life has had to make at least one wish in there lifetime so far but i'm sure not a lot of them came true, just like in hazel's situation. I can also relate to this because as a children we all made some wishes that were reasonable and just out of this world.

  18. "You do not immortalize the lost by writing about them. Language buries, but does not resurrect."
You cant bring back the dead by telling their stories, success, failures, experiences, etc. They wont resurrect they will just be buried underneath their legacy. Creating books, tales, poems, movies, tributes, etc. wont bring breath back into their bodies, it will just linger in the air, attached to grievances, memories, hearts, and troubled spirits. Dont waste your time expressing your feelings with a pen and paper in hopes and dreams of a possible resurrection, you'll only be more hurt and mournful. Dry your tears and cleanse your face of running mascara, appreciate the times they were present and learn from their absence. Time is precious and can never be reciprocated, live life to the fullest and make no regrets. You'll be judged for anything and everything you do, so you might as well do what you want. Treat everybody right and never throw shade to those who doubted you or apprehensively awaited to applaud you failures. Dont look down on those who are disadvantaged, instead help raise them up. Together we stand, divided we fall, so dont watch someone kill themself just help them become a better person. At the end of the day, they cant come back so give them their roses while they're alive (so they can happily smell the lovely fragrance) !

  19. Chapter 7:

There's many lines in chapter seven that like. One line is " You don't always get what you want. " This line speaks for itself. It's true you get what you need or can get. Life is hard You don't know what could happen. For example, if go hit by a car and the doctor says your not going to make it. You want to live but you can't it's impossible. You don't get to live, so you can't get everything you want.
Another like is "What a slut time is. She screws everybody." This is funny because I would never think to call time a slut. When you think about it time actually could screw a lot of things up. You could be doing finals and these funds determine whether if you can graduate. Your writing You essay and the time goes off before you finish. Next thing you know you fail the finals and You can't graduate. Time could do a lot of damage and that's messed up, it's life.
"The dead are visible only in the terrible lidless eye of memory." This line is another line in the chapter eight I liked. It's very interesting, it makes you think. This is diverting you would have to break down in order to really understand it. I didn't understand itat all until my teacher explained it. To me this line means when somebody dies You would remember them. You would always remember something about them. Your memory would always be there you can't choose your memories "eyes."
These lines are said in a Way that you have to stop and think about what it's trying to say. Once you do it means a Lot.

  20. Chapter 7
One qoute that stands out to me is “Each sleep ended to reveal a person who seemed a bit more like me. Sleep fights cancer, Regular Dr. Jim said for the thousandth time as he hovered over me one morning surrounded by a coterie of medical students. “Then I am a cancer-fighting machine, “I told him.” That you are, Hazel. Keep resting, and hopefully we’ll get you home soon” (pg. 108). It stands out to me because for one it’s sometimes good to make a joke when you are in a bad mood or when you’re feeling sick and needs someone. This quote also stands out to me because Hazel is staying in there with her disease which is cancer and one of the thing that’s saving her is sleep and that’s kind of cool that when you sleep your body is healing its self and you don’t need any type of medicine to do it all you need is sleep. Another quote that stands out to me is “Dr. Maria said this morning that she remains optimistic,” Dad said. I liked Dr. Maria, and she didn’t bullshit you, so that felt good to hear” (pg. 107). This quote stood out to me because it feels good to be a parent and the nurses are doing everything they can do to make sure that your child is being treated with good wealth. Last but not least another quote that stands out to me is “Dad told me that I did not have a brain tumor, but that my headache was caused by poor oxygenation, which was caused by my lungs swimming in fluid, a liter and a half. This quote stood out to me because this was when Hazel had the accident during the night and to be in that situation and still be super fine that’s amazing. Marqese.
